Rickie Fowler wins Rocket Mortgage Classic in playoff over Morikawa and Hadwin, ends 4-year drought

Rickie Fowler won the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday in a playoff over Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin, ending his four-year drought on the PGA Tour.

Fowler shot a final-round 68 to finish at 24-under-par 264. Morikawa and Hadwin both shot 67 to join Fowler in the playoff.

In the playoff, all three players made par on the first hole. On the second playoff hole, Fowler made a birdie putt from 12 feet to secure the victory.

It was Fowler's 5th career PGA Tour victory and his first since the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Fowler had been in contention for a victory several times in recent years, but had come up short each time. He had the 54-hole lead at the U.S. Open in 2022 and the Travelers Championship in 2021, but lost both tournaments in a playoff.

Fowler's victory is a sign that he may be turning a corner. He has been working on his swing with swing coach Chris Como, and the results are starting to show. Fowler has now finished in the top 10 in four of his last five tournaments.

With his victory, Fowler moves up to 12th in the FedExCup standings.
