Hunter Biden Will Plead Guilty In A Deal That Likely Averts Time Behind Bars In A Tax And Gun Case

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges in a deal with the Justice Department that will likely avert any jail time.

Biden is accused of failing to pay more than $100,000 in taxes on over $1.5 million in income in both 2017 and 2018. He is also accused of possessing a handgun in October 2018 while knowing he was a drug user.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Biden will plead guilty to the tax charges and will be sentenced to one year of probation. He will also be required to pay back the taxes he owes and to undergo drug treatment. The Justice Department has agreed to drop the gun charge as part of the deal.

Biden's lawyers have said that he is "grateful" for the opportunity to resolve the case and that he is "committed to making amends for his mistakes."

The plea deal is a significant development in the case, but it is not the end of the story. Biden could still face civil penalties from the IRS, and he could also be subject to state charges. However, the plea deal does mean that he is unlikely to serve any jail time.

The case has been closely watched by political observers, as it has been seen as a potential distraction for President Biden. However, the plea deal is likely to be seen as a positive development for the president, as it will allow him to focus on his job without the distraction of the case.
