Don Lemon says he doesn't believe in 'platforming liars and bigots' after CNN firing

Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor who was fired from the network in April 2023, said in a recent interview that he doesn't believe in "platforming liars and bigots."

Lemon made the comments in an interview with The Daily Beast, in which he discussed his firing and his future plans. He said that he was "stunned" when he was let go by CNN, and that he believes the network made a mistake in firing him.

Lemon also said that he doesn't believe in giving a platform to people who he believes are spreading lies and bigotry. "I don't believe in platforming liars and bigots," he said. "I don't believe in giving them a platform to spread their lies and their hate."

Lemon's comments come at a time when there is a growing debate about the role of the media in platforming people with controversial views. Some people believe that the media should give a platform to everyone, regardless of their views, in order to promote free speech.

Others believe that the media should be more selective about who they platform, in order to avoid giving a platform to people who are spreading lies and hate.

Lemon's comments suggest that he falls into the latter camp. He said that he believes the media has a responsibility to "hold people accountable" and to "call out lies and hate." He said that he doesn't believe in giving a platform to people who are "trying to divide us."

It remains to be seen what Lemon's future plans are. He said in the interview that he is "not sure" what he is going to do next, but that he is "excited about the future."
