Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy (चक्रवाती तूफान बिपरजॉय)

Cyclone Biparjoy is a severe cyclonic storm that formed over the east-central Arabian Sea on June 6, 2023. It is expected to make landfall on the Gujarat coast of India on June 15, with maximum sustained wind speeds of 125-135 kilometers per hour (78-84 miles per hour). The storm is also expected to bring heavy rains to the region, with up to 200 millimeters (8 inches) of rainfall possible in some areas. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Gujarat, warning of heavy rains and strong winds. The IMD has also advised people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. 

Cyclone Biparjoy is the third cyclone to hit India in the past two months. Cyclone Tauktae made landfall in Gujarat on May 17, and Cyclone Asani made landfall in Andhra Pradesh on May 30.
